An Empirical Assessment of Intra-Regional Trade Relationships: The GCC Context

The purpose of this paper is to examine the bilateral trade relationships across three Gulf Cooperation Council countries —the Kingdom Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Qatar—over last 30 years (1981-2010). study focuses on between Bahrain Qatar, combined as one group, which has a relatively larger economic mass population. Data related was collected from International Monetary Fund. proposed model tested using path analysis technique. Our results indicated that distance negatively level Arabia export level, while gross domestic product, population growth, product per capita have positive relationship with level. four factors included in research are crucial success mutual flow both Qatar because they provide facts policy makers need make appropriate decisions. evidence Arabia’s exports significantly depends sizes other distance.
